Nobel Prize winner Dr. Zinkernagel in Cuba .
Havana, June 28 2005. Nobel Prize winner in Medicine and Physiology in 1996 Rolf Martin Zinkernagel , visited the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), Havana Cuba .
Dr. Zinkernagel discussed with the Group of Research from the CIGB about antiviral immunity and vaccines, and also the current immunology and its applications.
The Nobel Prize came to Cuba invited to participate in the the 14th International Scientific Congress CNIC 2005 wound up Thursday in Havana after bringing together over 800 professionals from 40 countries.

The agenda of this congress included master conferences and symposiums on infectious diseases, the environment, neurosciences and nano -technologies, as well as the exhibition of new medical-pharmaceutical products. The meeting was devoted to the 40th anniversary of the foundation of National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC). In the congress Dr Zinkernagel gave a paper on current immunology and its applications, and his research with Australian Peter C. Doberty on the vulnerability of cells to certain lymphocytes. |
