Therapeutic area |
Neuro-protection |
Goal |
To further characterize the molecular pharmacology of the CIGB-845 neuro-protective effects toward its clinical use as a neuro-protective agent. |
Description |
CIGB-845 is a pharmacological combination between a synthetic peptide and a protein, endowed with neuro-protective and neurorestaurative properties, both with a substantial safety profile. Different experiments conducted by our group have shown that a single pre-conditioning or multiple CIGB-845 therapeutic administrations were able to protect the SNC and elicit neuro-protective mechanisms during experimental autoimmune encephalitis episodes and other experimental axonopathy models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis disease.
